Leading West Midlands’ law firm Sydney Mitchell celebrated their 8th successful quiz, raising much needed funds for its nominated charities, the Maria Watt Foundation and the Birmingham Women’s Hospital Charity. Over 70 people took part in the action packed Quiz with a twist. Teams were able to buy chance cards, giving a strategic angle to the quiz. The chance cards either resulted in another Joker, the adding or deducting 10 points or the score was doubled when playing joker cards in a very strategic quiz game.
The winner of the much coveted Sydney Mitchell Charity Quiz Trophy for 2016 was Charles Stanley Wealth Management, who was closely followed by Merito Financial Services and Cornwall Street Chambers in second and third places respectively. A bonus round involving the identification of dog breeds was won by Molly Giles of Cornwall Street Chambers.

"It was a very successful night; raising over £2000 from entry fees, raffle and the Chance Cards sold. We thank all for their support and in particular Dacs and Arthur J Gallagher for their generosity in sponsoring a team and Hogarths Hotel; Ardencote Manor Hotel and Hatton Park for their raffle prizes. It was a wonderful fundraising night for our charities, a lively event with lots of strategic moves and fun all round!”
“The Maria Watt Foundation is a local charity whose aim is to promote understanding about leukemia and other cancers affecting children, teenagers and young adults. This was set up in 2005 by Diane Watt after the tragic loss of her daughter Maria who had planned to go to university to become a lawyer.
“The Birmingham Women’s Hospital Neonatal "Tiny Babies, Big Appeal" is the Neonatal appeal at Birmingham Women's Hospital. All donations will help care for sick and premature babies, not just in Birmingham but throughout the West Midlands.
“We will be continuing in our fundraising efforts for the charities during 2016 with the Knowle Fun Run on 15 May and our Sydney Mitchell Golf day on 26 September.”
