Here at Sydney Mitchell we want to ensure you know all your legal options before you embark on any Employment litigation so that your time and money is not wasted unnecessarily.

Employment claim assesment scheme

To achieve this, we have developed an assessment scheme whereby you pay a fixed fee of £250 plus VAT to obtain the advice you need. The scheme includes the following:

  • A meeting for up to 1 hour with a member of the Employment Team to discuss your employment situation face to face and to go through any paperwork you have collected as evidence. (If the meeting lasts longer than 1 hour, the extra time will be chargeable at the solicitor's hourly rate).
  • Review of your documents in our own time after the meeting to understand the history of the case, to work out possible claims open to you and to consider possible compensation should you pursue a claim. We will also look at the best funding arrangements we can offer you.
  • Basic research into the law if needed to confirm our assessment.
  • Email/letter/telephone call of advice confirming the outcome of the assessment.

In total we spend 3-4 hours on average assessing a claim or claims. (If an assessment is likely to take longer to complete due to complexity for example, then we do charge according to hourly rates for the extra time taken).

By spending this time on the case from the outset it allows you to make an informed decision about your situation and you have not spent thousands of pounds pursuing a case that may not be very strong or worth a lot. Our aim is to offer value for money whilst providing access to specialists in the field.
