About Emma Birch

Emma is a general commercial litigator and is able to take on all types of commercial disputes, including:

She has worked with a broad variety of clients from both the public and private sectors including multi-national banking organisations, local authorities, Tier 1 automotive suppliers, and SME owner-managed businesses.

  • Acting on a multi-million pound fraud claim for a construction client including defending allegations of dishonest assistance, and bribery
  • Advising and acting for an individual regarding a shareholder dispute involving complex issues of construction of the shareholder agreements and the valuation provisions
  • Acting for a number of Maltese individuals on a dispute arising from the deferred payment provisions in the SPA following the sale of their professional services company to an Isle of Man based investment firm
  • Advising and acting for a public authority on an injunction to recover sensitive confidential information
  • Advising and acting for a public authority on an injunction under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997
  • Advising and acting for a public authority defending a defamation claim concerning statements made in Cabinet and at Planning Committee regarding a property developer and an application for planning permission

Emma trained at Hammonds (now Squire Patton Boggs) and qualified into the commercial dispute resolution team where she worked as an Associate before moving to Weightmans, where she spent the following 6 years.

Interests and Hobbies

Emma spends much of her time playing and watching netball, but is also a keen gym-goer. To balance out the exercise, Emma also enjoys baking (and eating) cakes!
