Due to the development and expansion of the firm’s Employment Law department, we are now seeking to appoint a Solicitor to work alongside its existing team to assist in driving forward a resilient and varied legal practice. Working in our Solihull/Birmingham Employment team is a fantastic opportunity for any candidate as they will receive support and encouragement helping them to develop and potentially progress in their career.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 to 4 years PQE and will principally be involved in dealing with contentious and non-contentious matters for both businesses and individuals such as redundancies, disciplinary and grievances, Settlement Agreements, TUPE, absence management and undertake a wide range of Employment Tribunal claims. There is a steady flow of new instructions from existing clients as well as recommendations.  The firm is seeking a motivated/technically strong Employment Law Solicitor with ambition who can develop and maintain relationships and will easily tap into a lucrative client base.

The Candidate

  • Employment Law Solicitor with at least 2 years PQE or equivalent.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, to prioritise and manage a varied caseload.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Strong legal skills with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional and effective communication with team members and contacts.
  • Enthusiasm for advising on a varied range of employment law issues and taking on new challenges
  • The ability to manage a busy and varied workload
  • An interest in business development and marketing
  • Experience in handling employment tribunal claims, including drafting proceedings
  • Employment law practice in a UK law firm
  • Experience in negotiating and advising on the terms and effect of settlement agreements
