Sydney Mitchell have been nominated and shortlisted, in the category "Law Firm of the Year (less than 15 partners)" in the annual awards ceremony and dinner to be held at the ICC on the 20th March. Even to be shortlisted is an achievement, and is a consequence of the hard work, dedication and client-care skills of everyone in the firm.

Sydney Mitchell Supports Local Teenage Cancer Charity

West Midlands law firm Sydney Mitchell last week proudly presented a cheque to their nominated charity The Maria Watt Birmingham Foundation for Childhood and Teenage Leukaemia. Kamal Majevadia, partner at Sydney Mitchell presented the cheque to Diane Watt, the founder of the charity.

The cheque was for £2,000 and was raised by the firm in 2007, following a number of charity events that staff members took part in, including the Knowle Fun Run and The Warwickshire Triathlon.

It is perhaps not surprising that the largest number of petitions for divorce are presented to the courts at the beginning of the year and in the month of September. For many couples the strain of close contact for an extended period over Christmas or a family holiday is the final straw when a relationship is already in crisis. For others they have wanted to see Christmas through or have a final family holiday for the sake of the children.
