A great spirit was shown by our all-weather golfers with a fantastic £2500 raised for our charities.  The challenging course certainly tested the best at Ladbrook Park with CVR Global LLP winning the competition with an impressive 92 points.

Brewin Dolphin came in a very close 2nd place on 91 points and Wilson Field with 87 points in 3rd place.  It was an exciting competition with Mulligans, Jokers and a yellow ball thrown in to keep players on their toes.

Merito Financial Services won the Yellow Ball competition with an impressive 43.  The longest drive was won by Simon Timmins and the nearest to the pin winner was Martyn Curnock.  Unfortunately no one won the £5000 Hole in One Prize on the 12th.

Our two great charities will benefit from the £2500 raised from the day; the Maria Watt Foundation* and the Birmingham Women’s Charity Hospital Neo Natal Unit**.

Div Singh, Senior Partner at Sydney Mitchell commented: “A big ‘thank you’ to Automated Systems Group who sponsored one of the holes and Peter McEvoy OBE who entertained the players with a few stories from his golfing journey.  What fantastic generosity from all players and supporters for the charities with over £965 raised from the mulligans and raffles alone.  Again we are pleased to raise funds for two such worthwhile charities.”

Eileen Rock of the BWH Charity commented:

“We are really grateful to Sydney Mitchell for organising the Charity Golf Day and would like to thank everyone who supported this event. The funds raised will help support the work of the Neonatal Unit at Birmingham Women’s Hospital.  Through such generosity, this will enable our staff to purchase additional medical equipment for the care of sick and premature babies.”

Diane Watt, Maria Watt Foundation, added:

“We are, as always, eternally grateful for the amazing support of Sydney Mitchell and their wonderful supporters who have continued to support The Maria Watt Foundation for many years. Children and Teenagers with cancer locally continue to benefit from the sponsorship of the Beads of Courage programme at Birmingham Childrens Hospital which provides something tangible to our young patients to record, tell and own their own journey through cancer treatment.”

*The Maria Watt Foundation is a local charity which aims to promote understanding about leukemia and other cancers that affect children, teenagers and young adults.  This was set up in 2005 by Diane Watt after the tragic loss of her daughter Maria who had planned to go to university to become a lawyer.
