Experience

Peter is a partner based at the firms City Centre office and specialises in Commercial and Private Litigation, Licensing and Gambling law and all matters relating to Social and Members Clubs and the leisure industry.

Qualified in 1981 and having spent all his professional career in Birmingham, Peter was educated at Bromsgrove School Worcestershire and Manchester University. He joined the firm in February 2008 from Shakespeare Putsman,

Although primarily a Commercial Litigator with wide experience in product liability, contractual disputes, debt recovery, warranty claims and all commercial disputes, Peter also acts for individuals and has experience in relation to contentious inheritance and probate claims.

Peter’s knowledge of Licensing and Gambling law is recognised throughout the country and he is an acknowledged expert in ‘Legal Experts’ in this specialist area. He conducts training sessions throughout the country on the Gambling Act 2005 and the Licensing Act 2003 for local Licensing Committees, Officers, professional groups and companies within the leisure industry. He specialises in all types of alcohol, entertainment and gambling licensing, acting in applications for premises licenses, transfers, variations, appeals and reviews. Peter has a range of clients including pubs, theatres, and restaurants and is well known throughout the country advising members/social and commercial clubs including the National Police Clubs Forum, the Alliance of British Clubs and local groupings. He also has a large client base in the area of late night refreshment dealing with restaurants and take-aways.

Peter has numerous clients and contacts throughout the Plumbing Industry and is also a Liveryman with the Worshipful Company of Plumbers and a Freeman of the City of London. He holds a certificate which declares him to be a ‘Freeman of the City of London and Plumber’ – surely unique amongst the local legal fraternity.
