All employers have a duty to ensure that prior to starting work, an employee has received adequate training on how to perform his or her job properly.

Sometimes this duty is overlooked and an employee is expected to pick things up as they go or it is assumed that they were trained by a former employer. Any such breach of the regulations that results in an employee sustaining injury gives rise to a claim for compensation.
