Dean Parnell qualified as a solicitor in 1995. He worked at Hammonds until 2000 and then moved to Pinsent Curtis Biddle (now known as Pinsent Masons) . He moved to Sydney Mitchell as a partner in 2003 and is currently joint head of the firm's Dispute Resolution Department which comprises 16 people.

Dean specialises in complex high value commercial disputes (often in excess of £1,000,000) and is often engaged in injunctive relief including Freezing Orders and Search Orders. He is also able to assist clients on a wide range of employment disputes (which also includes company defence work in respect of Health & Safety prosecutions).

Over the years Dean has acted for a wide range of organisations including owner managed businesses, FTSE 100 companies, international multinationals and central and local government departments.

He is a practising mediator and is a member of the Alternate Dispute Resolution group, the Association of Midlands Mediators and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is also able to act as a Supervising Solicitor in respect of Search Orders.

Dean is President of Birmingham Law Society and has chaired the Dispute Resolution Committee within Birmingham Law Society since August 2009. He is also a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
