Lucy Mitchell

Lucy has worked in Private Client Law for nearly 25 years beginning as an office junior and has gained a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of the law including wills, administration of estates, powers of attorney, court of protection applications, trust administration and preparation and completion of trust and estate income and capital gains tax returns.

Lucy has achieved a CILEX Level 3 Diploma in Law and Practice and is now working towards her Level 6.  She started working at Sydney Mitchell in 2012 as an assistant to Tracy Creed and progressed to a fee earning role in 2017 where she now manages her own caseload.

• Assisted a grieving family to submit an appeal to the local integrated care board for NHS Continuing Health Care Funding. This was undertaken on an urgent basis as the hearing date for the appeal was within a week of instruction.  The first stage appeal was rejected however, the second stage appeal was lodged immediately, and the result was a success, with the family being awarded a refund of approximately £145,000 of care fees paid by their late father.

• Dealing with the administration of an illiquid estate whereby there was animosity between the family.  The administrator died before the estate had been fully administered and a new administrator needed to be appointed to finalise the estate administration.
