One of the region’s most prestigious, glamorous events, organised and hosted by Birmingham law firm Sydney Mitchell, is aiming to raise thousands of pounds for local charities Marie Curie Solihull and Solihull Carer’s Trust.
The Sydney Mitchell Charity Ball is on Friday 10 October 2025 at the Britannia Suite at the National Motorcycle Museum.
Magic entertainer to household names including chef Gordon Ramsey, Michael J Fitch, is the event’s Master of Ceremonies and Compere, and music will be provided by Birmingham band The House of Chords.
As well as through ticket sales, The Charity Ball will raise funds for the two charities via a raffle, with prizes generously donated by Sydney Mitchell’s clients and contacts. Prizes include afternoon tea for two at Hogarths Hotel, dinner for two at the Marco Pierre White Steak House at the Manor House Meriden, a voucher from Addington Turkeys Balsall Common, and a voucher for Becketts Farm’s farm shop and café.
“The Sydney Mitchell LLP Charity Ball 2025 will be a really special event and is set to be a truly great night of fine dining, fundraising, and entertainment with live music, casino tables and magic,” says Karen Moores, senior partner of Sydney Mitchell. “The event is one of the firm’s most established fundraisers, with our first ever Charity Ball taking place in 2013 to coincide with Sydney Mitchell’s 250th anniversary year, and almost every year since.
“The firm is honoured to be supporting Marie Curie Solihull and Solihull Carer’s Trust this year. Both are incredible local charities, providing vital support, care and resources for their local communities at what is the most difficult time of their lives, both for the patient and their family. I hope we will raise a significant amount of funds for both charities, and are grateful to everyone donating raffle prizes and those buying tickets to join us at our flagship, glamorous Ball.”
Dan Powell, NCC Venue Manager of The National Conference Centre, adds: “The event brings together local businesses and community leaders for what will be an evening of fun and important fundraising in support of two local charities, and also a great opportunity to connect with fellow professionals who share a passion for making a difference.”
From its Hospice on Marsh Lane, Marie Curie Solihull helps people with an illness they’re likely to die from, and the people close to them, receive specialist care and support for free. This includes Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, heart, liver or kidney and lung disease, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s and advanced cancer.
Its Community Fundraiser (West Midlands) Ben Thomas says: “We are delighted to be Sydney Mitchell’s chosen charity for 2025/26. The firm’s ongoing support makes a vital contribution to closing the gap in end-of-life care. Sydney Mitchell’s generosity will ensure more people receive the end-of-life care they deserve, and that their loved ones can find comfort and support from accessing Marie Curie services.”
Sydney Mitchell has supported Carers Trust Solihull charity for several years. The organisation provides vital help and support to carers in and around Solihull who are caring for loved ones with dementia, physical or mental health issues, or learning disabilities. A Carers Trust Solihull representative added: “Thanks to our meaningful partnership with Sydney Mitchell, we continue to provide life-changing support and opportunities for carers, empowering them to thrive, not just survive. We are deeply grateful for Sydney Mitchell’s enduring support and proud to call them not just partners, but champions of our cause. Their commitment uplifts everything we do.”
