Growth for Sydney Mitchell’s Family Law team

3 August 2026

The family law team at Midlands firm Sydney Mitchell has expanded its team of lawyers advising and supporting on the full range of family law matters with the appointment of Suzanne El-Safty.

With previous experience focused on complex, high net worth financial cases as a solicitor at firms including Mills & Reeve LLP in Birmingham, Penny Ravy & Co in Worcestershire, Lodders Solicitors, and most recently HCR Law, London, Suzanne joins Sydney Mitchell’s Legal 500 recognised family team as a Solicitor.

She is working alongside the team’s joint heads and partners Karen Moores – also Sydney Mitchell’s senior partner – and Mauro Vinti, as well as family law partner Gemma Whitchurch.

Prior to entering the legal profession, Suzanne worked in investment banking for seven years, first at Merrill Lynch International in London, where she was Vice President of Structured Solutions, and then as Portfolio Manager at Unigestion in Geneva, Switzerland.

Of joining Sydney Mitchell, Suzanne says: “The new role of family law solicitor within the high ranking family law team at Sydney Mitchell marks a significant professional move for me. It presents the chance to be involved in the firm’s wide range of family law cases, an opportunity to work with a number of highly respected family law practitioners, and work for a well-established and progressive firm.

“The opportunity to be part of such an experienced, respected and friendly team is exciting, and I am relishing the chance to further enhance my hands-on family law experience working on a broad range of family law matters.”

Sydney Mitchell’s family law team is based in the firm’s Birmingham and Shirley offices. It is known for providing pragmatic, efficient and compassionate legal support and solutions when providing its extensive portfolio of family law services that includes advising on divorce and child arrangements, financial settlements, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements.

Suzanne’s appointment is the first in Sydney Mitchell’s proactive recruitment drive that is spearheading its investment in adding to its exceptional talent, and reinforces its long-term commitment to delivering outstanding client service, as Karen Moores explains:

“Exceptional client relationships begin with exceptional legal professionals, a commitment that has underpinned the growth and services at Sydney Mitchell throughout its 260-year history. Our recruitment strategy is embedded in the firm’s wider investment in sustainable growth amidst continued demand for legal services from both businesses and private individuals.

“We are delighted Suzanne has chosen Sydney Mitchell. Not only is she an accomplished family solicitor experienced in working with high net worth clients, and has a strong background in and understanding of finances from her early career in investment banking, Suzanne understands the importance of delivering exceptional client service and support, and as such, is a valuable addition both to the firm and specifically to our family law team.”
