About Nik Heelam

Nik has a wealth of experience in civil litigation, personal injury and family law, but over the last 16 years has specialised in all aspects of regulatory law, SRA and FCA compliance. Nik spent almost a decade working for the main frontline regulator in the legal services market in investigatory, inspection/audit, management and practice support roles.

Nik joined Sydney Mitchell in 2012 and is responsible for managing risk and compliance within the firm, which includes all aspects of professional conduct, client care, regulatory compliance and professional indemnity.

Nik is the firm’s MLRO, Insurance Mediation Officer and the lead contact for Data Protection purposes.

Nik is available to advise professional, business and charity clients on compliance issues, most recently assisting one of the UKs top 100 charities.
