Karen is Senior Partner and joint head of our Family Law team alongside Mauro Vinti. She is also recognised as a leading partner in the Legal 500 directory.
Karen acts for clients to resolve matters associated with all types of family breakdown including, but not exclusively, matrimonial finance particularly those involving dealing with family businesses and the appropriate division of pensions and complex children’s issues.
Karen is known for her formidable negotiating skills, adopting a firm but fair approach whilst keeping an eye on the commercial realities.
From the outset, Karen has always been attracted to family law as she feels passionately about making a difference for somebody. Whether that’s seeking to protect someone from domestic violence, to ensuring that someone has a relationship with their children or that they are secure financially for the future by ensuring that they get their fair share of the matrimonial wealth.
Karen qualified as a solicitor in 1992 joining Sydney Mitchell as a partner in 1998. She is a member of Resolution and a member of the Birmingham Law Society Family Law Committee.
In 2025 she was shortlisted for Professional Leader of the Year at the Business Desk Leadership Awards.
Before becoming a solicitor Karen wanted to become a vet, but she realised that as she could barely watch All Creatures Great and Small, she was probably not entirely suited to the role.
In her spare time, she loves to cook particularly Persian food and she is a real fan of Sabrina Ghayour and everyone in her family now has at least one of her books.
