What should you do if you slip, trip or fall?
There are a number of things you can do at the accident scene which will help you with any potential claim later on.
(1) Take photographs of
· the scene of the accident, etc
· the floor surface
· any defective coverings or holes
· any visible warning signs relating to the defect
· your injuries if they are visible
(2) Write down the names and contact details of any witnesses who saw the accident happen, or saw the defect
(3) If the accident happened at work or in a public place, make sure you report it so that the incident can be recorded in their accident book
If you are unable to do any of these at the time, return as soon as you can or ask a friend if they can help you.
(4) Visit your GP or hospital. However minor you think your injuries might be, it is important to get medical advice, particularly if your injuries are to your back or neck. The sooner you receive treatment, the sooner you will be on the road to recovery, and it is important to have it on record so there can be no disputes at a later stage
(5) Keep the shoes you were wearing
