Leading Midlands Law Firm Sydney Mitchell has presented two cheques for £2,750 to Diane Watt of the Maria Watt Foundation and Eileen Rock of the Birmingham Women’s Hospital Charity. The funds were raised by the firm over the last 12 months from its Annual Quiz, Charity Golf Day, and various other fundraising activities.

Karen Moores, Partner, Sydney Mitchell commented:

“We are pleased to be able to support the charities with both the ‘Beads of Courage’ programme and the purchase of life saving neonatal units at the Birmingham Women’s Hospital. It is important that where businesses can help give something back, they do.”

“We are thankful as always to our clients, professional contacts and our staff for their regular support of our fundraising activities throughout the year.”

Sydney Mitchell Law Firm Charity funds BWH Charity and Maria Watt Charity

Diane Watt, founder of the Maria Watt Foundation Charity, said:

"Our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Sydney Mitchell whose amazing support for The Maria Watt Foundation over the past number of years and again this year has made a significant difference to the lives of children and teenagers going through cancer treatment. The funds raised continue to support the psycho-social therapy programme Beads of Courage here in Birmingham. Each bead given to a child represents a difficult treatment be it chemotherapy, radiotherapy, blood transfusion, hospital admission etc. They help reduce the distress associated with cancer treatment and builds up over time into their own unique record that says to everyone, ‘that was tough....but I did it’.”

Eileen Rock, Fundraising Manager of the Birmingham Women’s Hospital Charity added: “Everyone at Birmingham Women’s Hospital would like to thank Sydney Mitchell LLP for their continued support.  This wonderful donation will be used to purchase vital Neonatal Medical Equipment. Additional equipment will enable our staff to care for more sick and premature babies and their families.”
