Sun, 01/07/2007 - 01:00 — Georgina Smith
On 9th July 2007, Sydney Mitchell held a special 'Inheritance Tax and Trust planning' seminar at Edgbaston Golf Club.
The event itself highlighted the benefits of knowing how you can legally reduce, defer or even avoid Inheritance Tax if the value of your estate is in excess of £300,000 including the value of your home.
Malcolm Tanner from Positive Solutions and Steve Parnham from BNB Tax Consultants joined Derek Cook from Sydney Mitchell, and presented a short seminar giving guests a greater understanding of how to maximise the legacy they would leave their families.
A Regional Manager from Canada Life was also there, discussing Inheritance Tax, gifting solutions and providing practical advice.
The seminar took guests through the following topics:
How the tax is calculated
Lifetime Exemptions & Gift Allowances
Potentially Exempt & Chargeable Lifetime Transfers
Allowances & Exemptions on Death
Trust & Estate Planning
Making tax efficient Wills
Making gifts into Trust
