Training Courses for Sports and Social Clubs

Sports and Social Clubs have a variety of different regulations affecting them particularly in relation to Licensing and Gambling.

The complex areas of Club Premises Certificates, Premises Licences and Gaming are not one to be undertaken lightly by Club Secretaries and Committees.

Enforcement is also becoming more stringent and the impact of the smoking ban is making review applications and visits from the Police and enforcement officers more and more frequent.

Our proficiency in providing training courses is well known throughout the country. Our primary training supplier – Partner Peter Adkins, regularly receives high feedback scores following training courses.

Courses can be run at a time and venue to suit yourselves or we can find a suitable venue if needed. Included are full documentation and support packs. Many involve interactive sessions and can be tailored to your specific requirements.

Often courses are run at weekends or evenings to fit in with your bar staff duties and committee meetings.

Currently we are offering specialised course for Clubs on

Licensing Act 2003 (2-3 hour course)

This course provides the basics of the Licensing Act, terminology, the licensing regime, overview and licensing objectives, licensable activities, the role of the authority (including policy), premises licenses (applications, content, duration, objections, responsible authorities etc), Designated Premises Supervisor, personal licenses (applications, content, duration), Club Premises Certificates, variation/transfer of licenses, reviews/appeals.  There would also be coverage of recent developments.

Licensing Act for the Committee and Bar Staff (1-1.5 hours)

This course is intended to be a short sharp introduction to the act and looks at licensing in general, the problem of underage drinking and dealing with problem drinkers. It is intended to provide staff with the basic knowledge they need under the Act

Gambling Act 2005 – (2-3 hour course)

A look at the Gambling Act specifically as to how it affects Clubs, it considers Bingo, Poker gaming machine sand other relevant considerations under the Gambling Act 2005
